Weakness or Strength
Sometimes you can turn your weakness into your biggest strength.
There was a young boy. He was very passionate about martial arts. Unfortunately, one day he lost his left arm in major accident. Boy did not give up; he decided to continue his training.
The teacher of boy was highly experienced in martial arts. He trained boy for only one specific move and asked him to master it. Boy believed in his teacher and continued his training for a year. Boy did not understand why his teacher is not teaching him other moves.
“Teacher,” the boy finally said, “I have mastered the move. Can you teach me more?”
“This is the only move you need to know” the Teacher replied.
Not quite understanding, but believing in his teacher, the boy kept training.
Several months later, the teacher took the boy to the tournament. Surprisingly the boy easily won first two matches. The third match proved to be more challenging, but later, his opponent became impatient and charged; the boy skillfully used his one move to win the match. He was amazed by his success; the boy was now in the finals.
This time, the opponent was huge, strong, and more experienced. For a while, the boy appeared to be overmatched. Referee thought that the boy might get hurt so, he suggested stopping the match. Teacher intervened.
“No,” the Teacher insisted, “Let him fight.”
The match resumed, his opponent underestimated the boy and made a critical mistake: he dropped his guard. Instantly, the boy used his move to pin him. The boy had won the match and the tournament. He was the champion.
After the match, the boy asked what was really on his mind.
“Teacher, how did I win the tournament with only one move?”
“You won for two reasons,” the Teacher answered. “First, you've almost mastered one of the most difficult move. And second, the only known defense for that move is for your opponent to grab your left arm.”
The boy’s biggest weakness had become his biggest strength.
