Starting with meditation

Image
'To avoid all evil, to cultivate good, and to cleanse one’s mind - this is the teaching of the Buddha.' Meditation has been scientifically proven to have many health benefits, like reduced anxiety and better emotional health. While this is great, many people struggle with incorporating meditation in their daily routines. Even though it takes some effort to adopt new habits, there’s one thing at play that doesn’t like meditation. This is the mind. But why the mind hates meditation? So, I won’t deny that experienced meditators won’t have too much trouble meditating whenever they want, because the wise part of their thinking mind has become dominant. However, the average Joe, myself included often experiences a mind that’s overly active: eager to solve puzzles, analyze past events and calculate future possibilities, no matter if it’s past midnight. A mind is a precious tool. Yet when it’s out of control, it can be a destructive monster as well. The quality of our thoughts ...

Satyagraha

Civil Disobedience means an act or process of public defiance of a law or policy, duly formulated and created by a governmental authority, which an individual or a group considers to be unjust or unconstitutional. The defiance of the government law or policies must be a pre-meditated act and the movement has to be announced in advance. The defiance of the law might take either a violent or non-violent form. It may be either active or passive. The action or non-action of civil disobedience has to be openly insisted on in order to be qualified as civil disobedience. The mere non-compliance of legal provisions does not itself constitute civil disobedience.  Gandhi called his concept of civil disobedience as the doctrine of ‘Satyagraha’ or ‘Truth Force’. According to him, the adjective ‘civil’ ...

Rise of AI and job losses

We have seen an exponential growth and mindblowing innovations in the technology sector in last few decades. It seems like we have future filled with astonishingly exciting new technologies. And along with these new technologies we will have a bunch of new opportunities. Future looks bright, isn't it? I have some concerns here. We have heard those jobs that did not exist a decade back such as vlogger (YouTuber), Social media manager, Uber-Driver,  App-Developer. etc. The technological advances brought us most of these new jobs. In this post, I want to talk about some of those jobs that we may see disappear due to the next leap in technology, which would be driven by artificial intelligence (AI). According to a study done at Oxford University, 45% of all current jobs will disappear in the next decade with some of them being completely automated or at least enhanced so that only a fraction of the workforce is required. Let's look at some of the jobs that will radicall...

Free things in our life.

What do we want in our life? What are our needs? Most people will say, they want wealth, power, happiness, success, love, fame, security and freedom.  Of course, all these things are needed in our life. But there are other things too, which are highly valued but we often neglect them. interestingly most of these things are free of cost. for example air, you can not live without it. Hold your breath for a minute and you will experience how important it is. We don't value it because it is available in abundance. Just like air, there are so many gifts of nature available in abundance and we never appreciate it. We are slaves of our worldly desires - wealth, power, pleasure, comfort and fame. We spend almost all of our time seeking them with a feeling that having them will make us happy.  But unfortunately, no matter how much we get it, we will get used to it and will start demanding more. The greed takes over the needs. The most valuable things are free and there is no n...
